Desura is a great application (and service) especially for those who likes indie games. It's available on Windows and Linux. By using Desura, you can browse, search, buy (there are many free games though), and install games on your computer. It also helps you to manage, update, and even install new mods easily. Just install and play!
Install Desura on UbuntuInstalling Desura on Ubuntu/Linux is a piece of cake. Simply, download the installer
here, extract the archive, and run the Desura file. The installer will start download necessary files from its server. Once completed, you can login or create new account for Desura.
Once logged in, you will be able to browse, search, and install many available games. At every page of game, you can watch the trailer video, view the rating, read review and comments of other users. If you are interested in giving the game a try, just click "Install game" to install (or buy) the game.

Some Ubuntu user sometimes have not been able to leave their old habits to use windows application, moreover if they are a gamers. Although there has many interesting games in Ubuntu, honestly windows game is more attractive and well maintained. Your decision to use Ubuntu as prime OS should not prevent you to play games, right ?.
Some of you may have already known Wine or also have used it , Wine is Linux application that let's to run windows application over Ubuntu, however not all windows program can be run properly but almost of them can work well with Wine. Wine AppDB is a collection of program which have been officially or unofficially tested and confirmed work with Wine. Some application that display in Wine AppDB is submitted by registered user, they testify what part is works and not works follows with distribution where its tested. Linux has powerful command line tools, we can do almost everything there e.g. file editing, installing or removing application, managing files and directories, downloading stuff from the Internet and even playing your favorite songs. Windows users should be jealous with the Linux command line tools, but don't worry, Windows users can still run various Linux commands with ease by using GOW. GOW stands for GNU On Windows is a tool likes Cygwin but the lightweight one. It brings 130 powerful Linux commands on Windows operating system.
GOW lets you run shell script, edit text files with Vim, search your text with grep, download from FTP with sftp, manage your files and directories with mv, cp. du, rmdir, whereis and more Linux commands from Windows CMD window.
